Pneuma illustrates the whispering of the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit (1 Kings 19:12-13). As believers, the Spirit of God dwells within us. As we live out our lives, the spirit of God speaks to us in numerous ways. Many times, we hear the Spirit of God as a still, small voice, whispering quietly, yet clearly. As we live as believers, we are assured that the Holy Spirit will help us, from within us. This is an image of a believer living her daily life as the spirit guides her in the way she should go. In John 10:27, Jesus says “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” In Christ, we are to do nothing of our own accord, but only live by the breath of the spirit, just as Jesus lived here on Earth. “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” (John 5:19).
